Summary of Records

This series includes a variety of records created and kept by the Utah Little Hoover Commission. These records include many of the forms, surveys, correspondence, and debates that went into the creation of the Little Hoover Commissions final report. Individual feedback from various state agencies reflect organizational structure at the time as well as ideas to improve efficiency . Included in this series are audio recordings of the meetings held by the Little Hoover Commission that may prove useful to researchers seeking intent information for decisions arrived at by the commission.

Scope and Content

This series includes a variety of records created and kept by the Utah Little Hoover Commission. The commission was tasked with assessing the organization and functions of the Executive Branch of Utah government. The mission was to look for ways to improve efficiency in government through reorganization. This directive was executed through assessments of individual state agencies, public feedback, and committee debate and discussion. The final product of the Little Hoover Commission is a 1966 report submitted to the Utah State Legislature. Based on the findings and recommendations of that report the Executive Branch under Governor Calvin Rampton underwent the broadest reorganization in Utah's history up to that point.

The records in this series include many of the forms, surveys, correspondence, and debates that went into the creation of the Little Hoover Commissions final report. Individual feedback from various state agencies reflect organizational structure at the time as well asideas to improve efficiency . Included in this series are audio recordings of the meetings held by the Little Hoover Commission that may prove useful to researchers seeking intent information for decisions arrived at by the commission.

Research Note

Researchers should note that the records in this series exist in three separate formats (paper, microfilm, and microfiche). At the time of processing it was decided that microfilm records would be kept and given their own container list arrangement on the finding aid. Presumably this microfilm duplicates what is found on the paper record. However, because of the inordinate amount of staff time needed to match and verify whether every paper document is present on the film it has been left to the researcher to utilize all available resources when accessing this series.
