Summary of Records

This series is made up of audio recordings of various centennial events. Events include the centennial preview at the 1946 Utah Education Association annual meeting, the centennial opening ceremony including an introduction by David O. McKay, and centennial observances. Other recordings are two "Beehive Busybody" traffic safety programs and a 50-second commercial announcement which aired on the "Gillette Cavalcade of Sports" radio program.

This series is made up of audio recordings of various centennial events. Events include the centennial preview at the 1946 Utah Education Association annual meeting, the centennial opening ceremony including an introduction by David O. McKay, and centennial observances. Other recordings are two "Beehive Busybody" traffic safety programs and a 50-second commercial announcement which aired on the "Gillette Cavalcade of Sports" radio program.

Research Note

Only "Beehive Busybody" episodes 21 and 22 are included.
Original phonorgraph discs of the 1947 observances were copied on open reel tapes in 1995. Cassette tapes were made for reference use.

Custody History

Records of the Centennial Commission originally were deposited with the Utah Historical Society, which in 1949 was designated by Governor J. Bracken Lee as the official repository for the records of the commission. The newly independent Utah State Archives retained custody of the records following its removal from the Historical Society in 1969.

Acquisition Information

These records were acquired from the creating agency through established retention schedules.
