Scope and Content
This series is composed of a forty-eight page booklet, Racing Laws and Rules, containing the rules governing the Utah Racing Commission. There is also an agreement between the Utah State Fair Association, which organized and controlled horse racing at the state fair grounds, and the Utah Agricultural and Racing Association, organizers and officiators of many of the racing meets held during 1925 to 1927.
Minutes from the Racing Commission, Series 1194, contains discussion of these regulations.
Utah Reporter from the Supreme Court, Series 1481, volume 72 documents case 4636, Lagoon Jockey Club et al. v. Davis County et al., a Case which determined the legality of continuing horse racing and pari-mutual betting following the repeal of the Redd Racing Law.
Correspondence from the Racing Commission, Series 19602, are interpreted in the correspondence of the commission.
Financial records from the Racing Commission, Series 19603, shows the implementation of fees, fines, and purses--specified by the laws--is documented in the financial records of the commission.
This series is classified as Public.
