Huntington (Utah) Ordinances and resolutions, 1920-2004

This series contains ordinances and resolutions put in place by the city council. Ordinances and resolutions are legislative actions approved by the council that regulate and govern activities, businesses, utilities , and more within the city. Topics covered include and are not limited to gambling curfews, sanitation, traffic, streets, trash, affordable housing, animal control, city budget, and zoning. The records usually include a number, title, preamble and ordaining clause, as well as the main body which is the subject of the ordinance and includes, when applicable, description of the penalty for violation. Ordinances and resolutions are signed by the mayor and recorder and contain the municipal seal. They usually include dates, including date discussed or approved by the city council, date signed, and date the law goes into effect. Periodically, ordinances and resolutions are compiled into volumes known as Revised Ordinances. When compiled, they were organized by subject rather than date and serve as the city code. Some of the ordinances and resolutions in this series are accompanied by minutes of the meetings in which they were discussed and/or approved, as well as supplemental material such as architectural reports or segments of plat maps when related to zoning, or reports from city sanitation staff when related to sanitation and services.
