Scope and Content
This series contains an index book created for the purpose of tracking probate actions handled by Sixth District Court in Sevier County. It lists the name of parties involved in probate proceedings, and applicable probate register books and page numbers. The first volume covers Register of Estate books One to Five while the second covers every Register of Estate book created by the court between 1898 and 1991.
Alphabetical by surname.
There is no known register book containing entries 1 to 239 (1896-1898). However, both index books contain citations for these cases, so they can be used to facilitate access to the earliest probate case files created by the court.
Probate record books from the District Court (Sixth District : Sevier County), Series 1338, more fully document court proceedings as they relate to individual cases.
Probate case files from the District Court (Sixth District : Sevier County), Series 6941, contains the complete case files indexed by the book in this series.
Register of estates from the District Court (Sixth District : Sevier County), Series 27467, lists the actions taken in each case.
These books were transferred to the State Archives for microfilming in June 2010. After filming they were returned to the court.

This series is primarily classified as Public. The secondary classification is Exempt: UCA 78-30-15 (2008). As of 1 July 1999, adoptions become public after 100 years; until then they are sealed and only obtainable through the court. This book include occasional reference to adoptions..
