Summary of Records

This series contains a ledger kept by the Providence School District documenting business conducted daily at the schools within the district. The ledger contains entries that usually just not "regular school work" or "school work as usual being done," but also notes exam days, teacher training trips, vacation days, when grades were due, communication received from and visits made by the Board of Trustees, instances of vandalism or other disciplinary issues, and more. At the end of each school year, the ledger records the names of the graduates of that year. Also included in this ledger is a list of students with notes about their general help. The purpose of these notes is unknown and it is unclear what the District was tracking. The lists contain the names of each student plus one or two words related to health, such as "O.K.," "Ton and teeth," "Very Bad," and "Teeth and eyes." Lastly, there is a very short list indicating books lost during the 1909 school year.
