Summary of Records

This series contains records from projects undertaken to "provide a more personal look at the history of Providence by collecting oral histories from various people in the community." The oral history projects were conducted with a view toward publishing an updated community history for the 2009 Sesquicentennial of the founding of Providence. The project was funded jointly by the City of Providence, Utah Humanities Council, and Utah Division of State History. The Providence Historic Preservation Commission selected interviewees with the intention of representing a cross-section of the community. The initial round of interviews were conducted by Rachel Gianni in 2005 and 2006. A second round was conducted by Randy Williams and Lisa Duskin-Goede in 2008. The series contains editing drafts of the 2005-2006 interview transcripts, along with reports for each interview round, containing final transcripts and other supporting materials.
