Summary of Records

This series contains a bound volume used to record minutes of the Water Commission. The commission was made up of the County Selectmen and was authorized by an act of the Territorial Legislature to handle issues of water rights in the county, including recording water flows, documenting water claims, and settling water disputes (Laws of the Territory of Utah, 1880 p. 36). The minutes contain discussion and decisions regarding various water issues. In addition to the minutes, the series contains a number of certificates recognizing the water rights held by certain individuals, along with various notes and draft minutes.
