Grant Funds Help Digitize Salt Lake Community College Photographs
The Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) Markosian Library received a grant from the Utah State Historical Records Advisory Board (USHRAB) to digitize photographs from their College Archives. The photographs document historical events such as convocations, inaugurations of new SLCC presidents, on-campus club activities, and curriculum-specific programs. The dates of the photographs range from the 1950s to the 1990s.
As a result of this grant, photographs documenting institutionally significant events for SLCC alumni, faculty, staff and the public are now available online. The purpose of the USHRAB grant program is to fund archival activities that increase the care, preservation, and access to Utah’s historical records and documents.
Grant Funding
The USHRAB has funding for an additional grant round in August. Does your institution have a project that will increase access to Utah’s historical records? If the answer is yes, then you should apply for a USHRAB grant. Grant requests can be up to $7,500 and all projects must have a public access component. Grants are available to regional and local repositories and other nonprofit cultural heritage organizations. Grant applications must be received or postmarked by August 31. There is an optional draft deadline of August 10. Please review the grant guidelines if you have questions about eligibility for your institution or project. Grant guidelines, application, and additional forms are available through the State Archives website.
The USHRAB is staffed by the State Archives and assists both public and private nonprofit organizations in the preservation of their historical records. The USHRAB’s re-grant program is funded through a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.
