We were honored with two awards from the National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators (NAGARA), a professional non-profit association dedicated to the improvement of federal, state, and local government records and information management and the professional development of government records administrators and archivists.

Local Government Records Specialist, Heidi Steed.

The Emerging Leader Award, which recognizes early-career records managers who have demonstrated significant service to the archives/records management profession, was awarded to our Local Government Records Specialist, Heidi Steed. Since joining us in 2017, Heidi has consistently gone above and beyond, delivering exemplary service to a wide range of users. She collaborates with records officers statewide to ensure the efficient management of Utah’s local government records. Heidi also plays a crucial role in supporting the Utah State Historical Records Advisory Board (USHRAB), providing resources and building knowledge for public and private entities safeguarding Utah’s permanent historic records.

Local Government team: Alan Barnett, Heidi Steed, Genesie Miller, and Maren Peterson.

The Program Excellence Award, which recognizes outstanding, innovative, and successful government archives and records management programs, was awarded to our Local Government Team. This award celebrates their outstanding, innovative work in bringing the full scope of our services to Utah’s local government users—from municipalities and counties to schools, courts, and special districts. This cross-functional team has excelled in helping local entities master best practices in government records access, management, and preservation. We’re incredibly proud of their ongoing success and can’t wait to see what they achieve next!

Thanks to Alan who accepted our awards at the 2024 NAGARA conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
