Summer is here—and so is our newest cohort of talented interns! They kicked off the season with a tour of the Utah State Archives building, met our staff, and dove into their projects with guidance from their individual advisors. Get to know them and the exciting work they’ll be doing this summer:

Austen Bergstrom is currently pursuing a master’s degree in history at the University of Utah. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Utah State University in 2023 and has previously interned with both the Local Government and Reference teams at the Archives. Passionate about preserving history and making it accessible to the public, Austen hopes to build a career in archives, museums, or research libraries. This summer, he’s working with the Digital Initiatives team.

Lexy Webster is a senior at the University of Utah, majoring in history and anthropology. After graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in Library and Information Science. Lexy is especially interested in cultural histories of class, gender, and religion. She is accessioning records this summer as part of the Local Government team.

Amber Jeppson began her library career six years ago as an elementary school media clerk, later becoming an elementary school librarian. Wanting to formalize her career in the field, she earned her Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from Louisiana State University last fall, along with a graduate certificate in Archival Studies. During her studies, she developed a strong interest in archives and plans to transition into the field full time. This summer, she is accessioning records with the Local Government team.

Annabelle Qian is a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After completing her degree in economics, she plans to attend law school with a focus on immigration law. This summer, she is exploring research and writing by studying and sharing the story of Utah’s archives.
