We’re excited to welcome Alyssa Stringham to the Utah State Archives! As our newest Records and Information Management (RIM) Specialist, she brings hands-on experience, curiosity, and a genuine love for helping others navigate their records. Alyssa joins the RIM Services Program team, where she’ll support state agencies and dive into the stories preserved in Utah’s public records. Get to know Alyssa in her own words:

What is your job title and what types of things will/do you work on?
I’m a Records and Information Management (RIM) Specialist working with the RIM Services Program team. I’m assigned to work with state agencies, and I’m assisting them with records information management questions, implementing and updating records series, and records management training.

What is your background and how did it lead you to working at the State Archives?
I worked in DEQ with the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control for a little over five years. I was the Division’s primary GRAMA records officer and responded to hundreds of records requests each year. Between that and my other responsibilities, I learned about and worked extensively in records management. It also gave me the opportunity to meet and work with many of the lovely Archives staff, though in a different capacity.

What are you most excited about your new job?
I joke that I’m very nosy, so what drives me is the chance to dig into and read all the “hot goss” of ages past while helping others with their records management needs. But the real answer is that I like to learn new things and I like to be useful, and I hope to accomplish both of those things while I’m here!

Any special hobbies/talents that you want to share with a larger audience?
I’m a knitter, reader, sometimes writer, artist in various mediums, and occasional traveler. I love animals, science, history, music, and being outside!

Alyssa’s experience and dedication to helping others will be a huge asset to our team. We’re thrilled to have her here and can’t wait to see the impact she’ll make.
