Mission and Values
The mission of the Utah State Historical Records Advisory Board (USHRAB) is to assist public and private nonprofit organizations throughout the state in the acquisition, preservation, and use of records of enduring value and to foster cooperation among organizations in carrying out these activities.
The following statements set the foundation for the Board’s goals and activities:
ACCESS: We believe that public access to information is vital, so that knowledge can be gained and shared.
COOPERATION: It is important for archivists and institutions to cooperate with and learn from each other in order to achieve more than they would acting alone.
PARTICIPATION: In order to achieve maximum support for historical records activities, the Board seeks participation by individuals and groups with various traditions and interests and from communities throughout Utah.
DIVERSITY: We will work to preserve records that represent the diverse experiences of all Utahans.
EMPOWERMENT: We will empower Utah’s citizens to take responsibility for their historical records.
PRESERVATION: We believe in the preservation of enduring historical records.
