An Extra Statute Found

We are literally days away from finishing the enormous House Working Bills record series project, putting online all bill files discussed by the Utah House of Representatives from 1896 to 1989 (1990 to the present is on the Legislature’s own site). After checking some external links on the Naturalization Records Guide, discovered that the previously announced U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Genealogy Program is now active. The relevant links on the guide have been updated. Meanwhile, if you are looking for citizenship records from 1906 to 1956, their program offers index searches and records requests for a fee that should be

New Digital Collection: Beaver County (Fifth District) Court case index

When the Utah State Archives transferred a court case index record book from the Fifth District Court in Beaver County for microfilming and permanent storage, we actually left the court without a familiar means to look up case files by name. Now everyone can view the index books online as part of the Utah State Archives Digital Collections. The surnames,

Historic Mining Disasters

Added a new research guide from an offline document prepared a couple of years ago. It is a compilation of data available online from the Mining Safety and Health Research section of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. In updating it, realized that last year’s Crandall Canyon Mine explosion would need to be sadly added to the end
