County Commission Records

County Commissioners act as both a legislative and executive authority for local government, enforcing state law and creating ordinances to meet local needs (Utah Code Title 17 Section 53). It is required by law for regular meetings open to the public be held by the Board of County Commissioners. A complete record shall also be kept permanently and made available for public access, including minutes "in which shall be recorded all orders and decisions made by the county legislative body and the daily proceedings had at all regular and special meetings." (UCA 17-53-209(1) [2014])

They are the guardians of the affairs of the county. They possess not only administrative authority, but legislative power within the limits prescribed by state law George Thomas, Utah State Government and Twenty-Seven Federal Agencies
