Summary of Records

This series contains docket books used to record cases heard by the justice of the peace and the outcome of each case. The cases include a settlement of variety of civil disputes, as well as criminal cases involving for various offenses, such as intoxication, disturbing the peace, gambling, selling liquor, assault, reckless driving, fighting, and stealing. The earliest volume in the series also includes records of marriages performed by the justice of the peace.

This series contains docket books used to record cases heard by the justice of the peace and the outcome of each case. The earliest volume in the series also includes records of marriages performed by the justice of the peace.

Research Note

Justices of the peace functioned in American Fork prior to the earliest records in this series and continued after the records in the series.  Furthermore, there is a gap in the series between 1905 and 1926.  The whereabouts of the records from these time periods is unknown.

Chronological by date.

Although the cases in the dockets are generally listed chronologically, the first two volumes in the series overlap much of the same time period.
