Summary of Records

The Leavitt Update is a list of highlights of Governor Michael O. Leavitt's activities from the previous two weeks.

Scope and Content

The Leavitt Update is a list of highlights of Governor Michael O. Leavitt's activities from the previous two weeks. It was compiled by his staff and took the form of series of summarized items, often leading with "Met with [person]" or "Announced [policy, plan or recommendation]." Following the summary is a list of recent appointments and copies of relevant press releases and other documents, including clippings from newspapers. The updates may have been modeled after an Executive Summary from the previous Governor Norman H. Bangerter, as there is a copy labeled "Sample of Bangerter" in the first folder. In an included letter from February 4, 1994 addressed to [news] editors, Vicki Varela (Deputy for Communications) and Tim Sheehan (Communications Assistant) explain the purpose of the Leavitt Update and how it will be mailed out every other Friday.

Research Note

There are no holdings beyond February 12, 1999, and it is not known if more were created after that date.
