Summary of Records
Scope and Content
This series contains a bound volume used to record civil and criminal cases heard by the justice of the peace, along with marriages performed in Ophir from October 1876 to April 1885. The court docket typically records the names of the parties in the case, the complaint or charges, a summary of the case, and the justice's decision and signature. Records of marriages typically include the name of the justice performing the marriage, the names of the parties being married, and the date. The docket was used by Justices of the Peace Frank L. Cushing, John G. Thompson, Charles M. Wyman, and George H. Wyman, Jr.
Justice of the Peace Alexander Herron later used this same book in the Tooele City Precinct to record cases he heard and marriages he performed from July 1888 to June 1891.
