About the Emery Administration

George W. Emery was appointed by President Ulysess S. Grant and was one of the more popular territorial governors. Governor Emery accomplished election reforms and expanded government services for the growing citizenry. In honor of Governor Emery, the Territorial Legislature named a county after him.
