Summary of Records

This is Governor Dern's memorandum journal and ledger record of the RFC (Reconstruction Finance Corporation) emergency relief funds allocated and made available to the state of Utah and of disbursements to and by the counties. The RFC was a pre-New Deal federal agency created in 1932 by the Hoover administration to facilitate economic activity by lending money to a variety of businesses and state and local governments during the Great Depression. The ledger book begins with Governor Dern and continues through the administration of Governor Henry Blood. In addition to the RFC financial data, pages from the Blood administration also include accounting for Federal checks received by Governor Blood, and Liquor Control Commission checks received by Governor Blood.
