Scope and Content

This series contains minutes from town council meetings, including regularly scheduled, special, and emergency meetings. The minutes were kept by the town clerk and serve as the official record of the meetings. They are approved by council vote at the following council meeting, and signed These minutes are the official record of the proceedings of regularly scheduled, special and emergency council meetings. They are adopted and approved by the council during their next public meeting. Minutes include the date, time, and location of the meeting; a record of who was present or absent, including council members and members of the public; and summaries of the council's business. Business usually covered ordinances and resolutions, budgets, infrastructure including roads and water systems, business permits, alcohol permits, building permits and construction, and more. Also included in the minutes are reports on city business from various departments such as the sheriff's office, the mayor's office, and others. Minutes also record official votes by the council on issues requiring such action.

Arrangement

Chronological by meeting date.

At the time of microfilming in 2000, the series had a mixed arrangement. Minutes from 1937-1985 were arranged and filmed in chronological order based on meeting date. Minutes from 186-1998 were arranged and filmed in reversed chronological order by meeting date.

Custody History

Records in this series dating from 1937-1998 were transferred by Cornish to the State Archives for microfilming in 2000. Records dating 1937-2016 were permanently transferred by Cornish to the State Archives in Mach 2021.
