Scope and Content
This series contains minutes that record the official proceedings of city council meetings, including regularly scheduled, special, and emergency meeting. The minutes are kept by the city recorder and are approved at the following council meeting. The records in this series include the standard business of the council on city matters such as improvement projects, business licenses, and the city budget. They also include discussion of special topics such as the COVID-19 pandemic, security and safety, and more. The minutes for each meeting contain: an agenda; a roll call; the date, time, and place of the meeting, including whether or not it was held virtually; a record of council member votes on anything requiring a recorded vote; a sign-in sheet for public attendees; and usually a certificate of the posted notice. When applicable, the minutes also include a signed affidavit documenting the occurrence of a closed session at a given meeting.

Custody History
Records in this series were transferred to the State Archives for microfilming in 1979 and 2003. Physical records in this series dating from 1909 to 2020 were transferred by Washington City in June 2021.
