Summary of Records
Scope and Content
The Murray City Cemetery interment registers list persons buried in the Murray City Cemetery. Register columns include such information as the burial number, name of the deceased, age, cause of death, birth and death dates, sex, physician, date of burial, location of lot (plat, block, number), grave number, owner of lot, undertaker, and remarks. Not all columns are completed for all individuals.
Research Note
There is an overlap of 4,274 entries as burials 8,074 through 12,348 are recorded in both volumes.??Volume 1 covers 119 years (from May 12, 1874, through February 12,1994) and burial numbers 1 through 12,348. Entries on pages 199-305 are duplicated in the later volume.??Entries for Volume 2 begin with burial no. 8,074 (May 2, 1967), and are ongoing. [Note: when this volume was microfilmed in January 2010, the last entry was burial no. 15,976 (December 22, 2009) on page 203.] Entries on the first 110 pages repeat burials recorded in the earlier volume.
