Spanish Fork (Utah). City Council. Minutes, 1855-

This record contains minutes from regular and special city and town council meetings. Minutes were typically kept by the city recorder or clerk and document the proceedings of each meeting. Each record contains such information as: the names of those present at the meeting as well as those absent; the date, time, and location of the meeting; a summary of discussions; and a record of motions made and actions voted on, including who voted in what way. Topics discussed at meetings range from citizen complaints on noise or other public nuisances, reports from city departments, and public works projects, to ordinances and resolutions, budget and city finances, elections, schools, taxes, business licenses, and more. Early minutes are handwritten in large ledgers while later minutes are typewritten and then bound in ledgers after the fact. Some meeting minutes also include copies of resolutions or ordinances discussed or acted upon. There are two notebooks of notes kept by the city recorder during meetings which served as draft notes. These notes were later copied into ledgers and approved to serve as official minutes, while the drafts were crossed out.
