Summary of Records
Scope and Content
This series contains the report from the annual Utah Conference on Higher Education. The report consists of the conference program, speeches, panel discussions, and meeting reports. The purpose of the Conference was to coordinate between the higher education institutions in Utah. Each year during the period of these proceedings, officers and faculty from the member institutions met at a different school for multiple days of sessions. According the later reports, the average size of attendance was seven hundred faculty members, administrators, and members of governing boards. In addition to sessions, there would be reports from committees and sections formed around subjects such as curriculum, students, faculty, public relations, and other forms of adult education.
Member institutions, as of 1974, included: Brigham Young University, College of Eastern Utah, Dixie College, Snow College, Southern Utah State College, University of Utah, Utah State Board of Education, Utah State University, Utah Technical College at Provo, Utah Technical College at Salt Lake, Weber State College, and Westminster College.
Included is a report written in 1974 titled "A Thirty-one Year History of the Utah Conference on Higher Education." It was written by N. Blaine Winters using records that were preserved in the Utah State Capitol.
