Scope and Content
This index provides electronic access to death certificates. It has often been shared with the State Archives as a foundation for name indexes online, for at least 1904 to 1964. It consists of a first and last name, date of death, county (as a number), gender (as a number), and the full state file number.

Processing Information
This data was used in the Utah Death Certificate Index published by the State Archives from at least 2006 to 2015, covering 1904-1964. Unmodified files may not be available for all years as it was generally integrated into records indexing activities for online.Â
A separate set of data acquired by Gina Strack was published as an index online in 2026 by the State Archives covering 1968 to 1975 to help patrons and staff search for death certificates.
