Summary of Records
Scope and Content
The Folk Arts Program presents a free summer concert series on Monday nights in front of the Chase Home Museum in Salt Lake City. Concerts were presented in August from 1987 to 1998. In 1999, one concert was held to celebrate the ground breaking of the Chase Home Museum renovation. No concerts were held in 2000, and starting in 2001, the series expanded to eight concerts in July and August. These one and-a-half-hour performances of folk music, ethnic dance and cowboy poetry complement the visual arts and crafts displayed in the museum. The concerts feature community traditions represented by both formal performance ensembles and by informal groups that maintain performing traditions because of their family, religious or occupational heritage. Utah residents are featured. This series contains sound recordings and photography of the presentations and performances. It also includes documents related to the program, such as correspondence, flyers, letters of agreement, and newspaper clippings.
Materials in this series were assigned a project number by the Folk Arts Program, consisting of a three-letter code, creation year, a letter indicating format, and the numerical order of the materials.
