Summary of Records

This series contains records relating to the Save it for a Rainy Day exhibit. The records exist in the variety of formats, documenting the administrative process as well as the exhibit itself.

Scope and Content

Utah's rural and pioneer heritage produced a culture that valued thrift, putting time to good use, and recycling materials to extend the useful life of objects. Carol Edison conducted fieldwork around Utah and produced an exhibit at the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Arts in 1991. Items included woodcarving, rag rugs, miniatures, needlework, and welded sculptures from found and discarded objects. Exhibit labels included extensive biographies of the artists and their portraits. A number of objects were purchased for the State Folk Arts Collection and the show traveled to several venues. This series contains records related to the exhibit, such as photographs, visual and audio recordings, and correspondence and documentation.
Materials in this series were assigned a project number by the Folk Arts Program, consisting of a three-letter code, creation year, a letter indicating format, and the numerical order of the materials.
