Scope and Content

Utah's Dixie is a region in southwestern Utah that maintains a regional identity in terms of folklore and heritage. This project, funded by the Utah Endowment for the Humanities, included production of a video featuring participants of the annual Southern Utah Folklife Festival. A lecture series featuring the video as well as community scholars Bob Slack, Joe Bolander, Gary Tom and Karl Brooks was presented in several communities. The scholars showed the video then spoke about pioneer and Indian communities in Utah's Dixie. This series contains the aforementioned video, as well as related videos, photo slides, and the grant application for the project.
