Scope and Content

This series contains newspaper clippings collected about different subjects and topics pertaining to Utah.

Notes

In reappraisal by archives, decided to recommend destruction. The series consists solely of newspaper clippings of places and events around the state, without marginalia. This information is readily available in the newspapers of the period.

This series was discussed in the Appraisal Committee on June 18, 2019, as well as by email earlier. Comment from Jim Kichas, deputy director and manager of the Processing section: "Looking at the samples you forwarded I think it makes the most sense to merge [series 14106] into Series 1364. Several agencies have 'newspaper clipping' series. As they compiled and curated these clippings (presumably) in the course of office business I would argue that they are a government record." Additionally, Kendra Yates, chief records officer and manager of the RIM section, argues that the clippings directly tie into the core functions of the Office of Tourism, providing unique insight to what the agency was focused on and accomplished at that time. -Renee Wilson, RIM specialist
