Schedule Description

These records document the organization and reorganization of governmental entities. Information includes history, functional information, geographical boundaries, organizational files and related records.

Scope and Content

This series contains the applications for vendor's, purchaser's, and/or foreman's licenses for explosives or ingredients to make explosives. The U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Mines appears to have designated county clerks as Licensing Agents who could issue these licenses for mining purposes. In addition to completing the form, applicants would need to swear oaths before the county clerk and pay a twenty-five cent fee for both the affidavit and license fee. An applicant applying for an individual license would need to provide personal information regarding birth, citizenship status, and current address, while an applicant applying on behalf of an organization would need to provide the organization's contact information and proof that they are authorized to represent the organization. All applicants need to provide information of the kinds or explosives or ingredients to be purchased, their intended use, where the materials would be stored, prior licensing status, as well as swear an oath to comply with all explosives-related laws.
