Schedule Description
This series contains minutes of an advisory committee appointed by the city council to advise on the building or acquiring of water systems for the city.
Scope and Content
This series contains a bound copy of minutes of an advisory board appointed by the city council in July 1897. According to a note in the minutes, "a Committee of 25 citizens was appointed to advise the City Council, audit accounts, etc. in the matter of purchasing or building water works in Ogden City." The committee was comprised of five representatives from each of the five municipal wards, with John Scowcroft serving as chairman. After several years of consideration, the committee eventually recommended that rather than build its own water works or condemn and take possession of private water works, that the city lease existing private water works with the option of purchasing them. The minutes include such information as the date and time of each meeting, with a summary of matters discussed and actions taken by the committee. This bound copy appears to be an onion-skin paper letter press book copy.
