Schedule Description
This series contains files from the Provo City Energy Department. These files are related to administrative processes of the department, such as contracts, proceedings, agreements, project files, petitions, bids, electricity bonds, and real estate documents like easements and rights of way. The records in this series from before 1940 mainly document correspondence and agreements between the Utah Power and Light Company and Provo City, because Provo did not have its own power service before 1940. The materials from 1940-1986 were created by several different iterations of what would become the Provo City Energy Department, with title such as "Electric Utility Board," "Provo Electric Power," "Provo City Power," and "Electric Department." In 1986, the Energy Department as it currently exists was established in the Provo Code.
