Schedule Description
These transcripts are a full record of the official proceedings during a criminal trial. They are a written copy of the full questioning of witnesses. Transcripts are normally prepared on appeal in a case to a higher court, and are merely supplemental to the official case file.
Scope and Content
This series contains a single notebook used to record the proceedings in the case of Salt Lake City vs. Marion Dame (case 10866) in November 1938. Transcripts are a full record of the proceedings in a trial, including questioning of witnesses. Transcripts are typically destroyed by the court after a period of time. This transcript, which is written in shorthand, was created by Clair Johnson, who traveled to various courts throughout the state, serving as a court reporter. Because Johnson lived in Sanpete County, some of the draft shorthand transcripts that he created ended up with the district court in Manti. This transcript was among those.
