Abstract

The Utah Disaster Relief Board (DRB) was created by the Legislature in 1983 to help local governments repair flood damage.

Biography/History Notes

DRB funds help applicants repair, restore, reconstruct, or replace public facilities damaged or destroyed by flooding or mudslides. Included may be the following country or municipal facilities: flood control, public power, sewage treatment and collection, waterways, water supply and distribution, and watershed development. Some highway facilities and public buildings are also eligible.??All financial assistance provided by the DRB is in the form of grants. Obviously, this funding is?only appropriate for emergency repair situations and is only available when mandated by the?Legislature and Governor. Routine water resources development is not eligible. The Permanent Community Impact Board acts as the Disaster Relief Board. Personnel in the Division of Community Development act as staff for the board.
