Abstract
The Salt Lake City Defense office was created as a special agency under the Commissioner of Public Safety to establish a strong military defense to protect the citizens of the community.
Biography/History Notes
By authority of the President of the United States during the year of 1953, Civil Defense is now an officially recognized agency and has been delegated the responsibility of working as such in natural disasters, with/and under the National American Red Cross agencies. In war-caused disasters, the National American Red Cross works with/and under Civil Defense supervision.
