District Court (Sixth District : Sevier County) Declarations of intention record books

Series 13476

These volumes contain only the declarations of individuals' intentions to become United States citizens in which an applicant vows to later become a U.S. citizen and to renounce his current citizenship. The forms contain blanks for the name and location of the court; the individual's name, age, occupation, color, complexion, height, weight, hair color, eye color, visible distinctive marks, birthplace, birth date , and current residence; the location from which he emigrated to the United States and the vessel name; his last foreign residence; the name and title of the ruler to whom he would be renouncing allegiance; and the port and date of arrival in the United States.

These volumes contain documentation of the final steps of becoming a United States citizen. They include petitions for naturalization, certificates of citizenship, and accompanying documentation kept by the Sixth District Court in Sevier County.

Sevier County (Utah) Miscellaneous maps collection

Series 29661

This series contain various maps related to Sevier County. Most of the maps reportedly came into the possession of a private individual when the County was cleaning out offices. They were later given to the State Archives for preservation. The maps are varied including such map types as road maps, property ownership maps, tax appraisal maps, township and range maps, and a cemetery map. They include several meticulously hand-drawn maps by the skilled local draftsman Anton Nielsen. For a couple of the maps, the State Archives holds only a digital copy. This includes a 1912 map of the county, which was copied from a map in the Miss Mary's Museum in Salina.
