Summary of Records
Scope and Content
This series contains books used by the court clerk to record the text of judgments rendered in court cases. These records function as a reference source for all final judgments made by the court in civil matters. The books also include judgments from justice courts in the county. The books may include such documents as findings of fact, conclusions of law, and decrees or judgments. Recorded information includes the names of the parties involved, date, a summary of the case and findings, decisions rendered, and the names of officials. A case number is recorded in some instances.
Gaps
Book 1, presumably dating from 1896 to 1919 is missing and presumed lost.

Custody History
These books were originally transferred to the State Archives from the court in 2007. They were transferred to the regional repository at Southern Utah University in November 2009. The University Special Collections returned the books to the State Archives in October 2025.

These records were acquired from the creating agency through established retention schedules.
Processing Information
This series was archivally processed by Jim Kichas and Emily Gurr in May 2008 as part of a NHPRC grant project designed to preserve the historic records of Utah's Fifth District Courts. The finding aid was updated by Alan Barnett in November 2025 after Southern Utah University returned the books to the State Archives.
