Scope and Content

This series contains correspondence, newspaper clippings, petitions, and reports relating to the 1981 re-location of "Weteye" nerve gas bombs from the Rocky Mountain Arsenal in Colorado to the Tooele Army Depot in Utah. The records reflect the interaction of constituents and federal and state governmental officials in the development of a policy which would allow for the safest possible transfer of the Weteye bombs to Utah. Governor Matheson and many constituents were opposed to the move.
