Summary of Records

This series contains statements, publications , maps, and other materials relating to the recreational and commercial utilization of the Great Salt Lake and the surrounding shoreline, and the two public hearings that Governor Rampton held in regard to this issue. The records were preserved by Governor Rampton and his staff.

Scope and Content

As the shoreline of the Great Salt Lake receded, ownership of the lands that appeared was under question (did the lands belong to the state of Utah or to the federal government?) and the possible uses of the land was a subject of contention. This series contains statements, publications, maps, and other materials relating to the recreational and commercial utilization of the Great Salt Lake and the surrounding shoreline, and the two public hearings that Governor Rampton held in regard to this issue. The records were preserved by Governor Rampton and his staff.
