Scope and Content
These record books contain daily counts of inmates housed at the Utah State Prison. Specific data tracked in the record books includes: morning counts; the number of inmates received and discharged; evening counts; and, recapitulation data for each day tracked. The early record books contain counts but no identifying information for inmates being tracked. Later volumes contain more detailed data including names, identifying Utah State Prison numbers, and actions being taken (for example: inmates being sent to court, being returned from court, being paroled, etcetera).
