Salt Lake City (Utah). Cemetery Interment record books, 1848-1968.

This series contains a set of books used to document burials in the cemetery. The post-bound volumes contain forms with columns for such information as interment number, name of the deceased, burial permit number, dates of death and interment, sex and age of deceased, place of death, location of grave, date and place of birth, owner of lot, deed number, and removal information. It appears that the information in the book prior to 1934 was copied from earlier official burial records, specifically the Record of the Dead (Series 21866) and later Burial registers (Series 21867). Beginning in January 1934 the entries in this record appear to have been the official record of burials. Burial entries from 1848 until June of 1899 list only a death date. From June 1899 until December 1933 they list only a burial date. From January 1934 forward both death and burial dates are given. From 1859 to 1893, the column entitled "Place of death" is used for the name of the medical attendant, and from 1848 to 1893, the column entitled "Undertaker" is used for names of relatives. Columns labeled "Death Certificate Number" and "Cause of Death" appear on the ledgers between 1848 and 1920, and between 1934 and 1959. Not all columns are completed for all individuals.
