Scope and Content
This series contains registers used to record actions taken by the court in criminal cases and the associated documents filed in each case. The information recorded for each case typically includes the names of the defendant(s), the names of the attorneys representing the state and the defendant, and the name of the judge hearing the case. The list of actions and documents filed may include petitions, complaints, summons, answers to summons, orders from the court, exhibits, decrees, instructions to the jury, verdict, motions for cross complaints or new trials, amendments to previous answers and disclaimers.

Custody History
The district court transferred the books in this series to the State Archives in 2007. They were sent to the regional repository at Southern Utah University in November 2009. The University Special Collections returned the books to the State Archives in October 2025.

These records were acquired from the creating agency through established retention schedules.
Processing Information
This series was archivally processed by Jim Kichas and Emily Gurr in May 2008 as part of a NHPRC grant project designed to preserve the historic records of Utah's Fifth District Courts. The finding aid was updated by Alan B. Barnett when the original books returned to the State Archives.
