Utah Public Meeting Notice Administration

A new law went into effect April 1, 2008: UCA 52-4-202(3)(a)(i)(B). It states that all public bodies (see UCA 52-4-103(7)) are required to post notices for a public meeting to the new Utah Public Notice Website, although some exceptions apply. By posting to the website, public bodies also comply with UCA 52-4-202(3)(a)(ii)(A), providing notice to a newspaper or local media correspondent, through website subscription.

Benefits to using the Utah Public Notice Website include:

  • Greater accessibility to public meeting information, which encourages greater participation by the public
  • Central source for all public meeting information statewide
  • Standardized format for publishing
  • Access to past public meeting minutes
  • Allows public to subscribe to public body notices and receive updates to current meetings and notification of upcoming meetings
