Utah Public Meeting Notice Administration
A new law went into effect April 1, 2008: UCA 52-4-202(3)(a)(i)(B). It states that all public bodies (see UCA 52-4-103(7)) are required to post notices for a public meeting to the new Utah Public Notice Website, although some exceptions apply. By posting to the website, public bodies also comply with UCA 52-4-202(3)(a)(ii)(A), providing notice to a newspaper or local media correspondent, through website subscription.
Benefits to using the Utah Public Notice Website include:
- Greater accessibility to public meeting information, which encourages greater participation by the public
- Central source for all public meeting information statewide
- Standardized format for publishing
- Access to past public meeting minutes
- Allows public to subscribe to public body notices and receive updates to current meetings and notification of upcoming meetings
The Utah State Archives has been tasked with administering this website. A training manual (version 2.0) is available, as well as a quick quide for owners and posters and training sessions. A new website administrator has been appointed, who will be happy to answer your questions and provide training about this important resource. You may contact her at:
