Abstract

Carbon County began to be settled in the 1870s. By the 1880s, coal was discovered and the area became a magnate for mining operations, attracting many immigrants. By 1892, it became an official county in eastern Utah. Carbon County government is made up of 10 elected officials; a Sheriff, Attorney, Treasurer, Assessor, Recorder, Clerk/Auditor, Justice Court Judge, and 3 Commissioners. The county seat is Price.
