Summary of Records
Scope and Content
This series contains a record of deaths recorded by Ogden City. Most of the recorded deaths occurred in Ogden, but some deaths that occurred in other communities are included as well. Information in the registers includes the decedent's name, residence or place of death, place and date of birth, age, color (black or white), sex, death date, cause of death, name of attending physician, and remarks. Both volumes record the same deaths, but the first volume is arranged chronologically while the second volume lists deaths alphabetically . Notes in the registers and the somewhat random order of entries in Book 2 make it clear that the information in Book 2 was copied from Book 1.

Chronological and alphabetical
The first register is arranged roughly chronologically by the date the death was reported. The second register is arranged alphabetically by first letter of the surname of the deceased.

Custody History
The registers, which were created by Ogden City, eventually came into the possession of the Weber/Morgan Health Department. The Weber/Morgan Health Department transferred the death registers to the Utah State Archives in January 2009.
