Abstract
The five county justice precincts were abolished and a single Salt Lake City precinct created in 1901. The City Court judge became the ex-officio judge for the county city precinct. Legal refinements by 1919 had clarified this court as a city court. City courts were abolished in 1978.

Held jurisdiction for civil cases involving small sums and petty crime including petit larceny, assault and battery, breaches of the peace, minor property damage, and assorted other misdemeanors.
