Abstract
The Division utilizes the principles of stewardship and ecosystem management to assist non-federal landowners in management of their natural resources. Provides wildland fire protection for non-federal landowners commensurate with risk. Optimizes the benefits from ecosystem based, multiple-use management of resources held in the public trust.
Biography/History Notes
In 1994 the Legislature passed legislation splitting the Division of State Lands and Forestry into two new organizations. This continued as the Division of Sovereign Lands and Forestry, still under the Department of Natural Resources. The new organization became the School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration, an independent agency not under any other department.
