Abstract

Created in 1937 to have general supervision over the administration of all laws regulating the conduct of business and trade, the Trade Commission was dissolved in 1983 with the creation of the Division of Consumer Protection.

Biography/History Notes

Police and encourage fair trade policies for the protection of the consumer when purchasing goods and services.

In 1937, the Trade Commission was composed of three members appointed by the governor with the consent of the senate. In 1941 (first special session), the commission was moved under Business Regulation and composed of three members of the commission of business regulation.
