Biography/History Notes

On creation in 1907, the Commission consisted of three suitable persons appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. In 1955 (Laws ch. 141) membership was changed to the Attorney General and two members of the State Bar to be appointed by the Governor. In 1957 (Laws ch. 155) membership was to consist of all three members chosen from the State Bar by the Governor with the consent of the Senate. In 1987 (Laws ch. 193) membership was increased to four with one not only a member of the Utah Bar, but also a member of the Legislature at the time of his appointment and during his service.
